The story of Obese Mood began in the gritty alleyways of Detroit, Michigan. Five high school friends — Billy Gordy (lead vocals), Jimmy “Thick” Hughes (bass), Jake “Bulky” Greyson (drums), Tony “Paunchy” Russo (keyboard), and “Fat” Freddie O’Donnell (guitar) — found solace in music during an era of economic downturn. They bonded over their shared love for hefty tunes and hearty food, and their camaraderie led to the birth of a band unlike any other. Their name, Obese Mood, was inspired by their desire to create music that felt as filled with emotion and intensity as the meals they loved to share.
After spending years developing their sound and style in local dive bars, the group was finally discovered by a talent scout from a renowned record label. Their journey since has been filled with sold-out gigs, chart-topping hits, and a fan base that spans the globe. Despite their fame and fortune, the band remains down-to-earth, always cherishing their roots and their friendship.
