Unaware Knee

Backstory:
Unaware Knee was born out of the ashes of a failed rock band in the early 2000s. The original band, which consisted of lead singer Mike “Rusty” Ruston, drummer Pete “Knee” Nelson, and bassist Rob “Bobby” Kennedy, struggled to find success in the saturated music scene. After a string of disappointments, the trio decided to disband and pursue individual careers. However, fate had different plans. In 2005, they reunited by chance at a charity concert and realized that they still had something to offer as a team. After recruiting the talented guitarist Johnny “Jax” Jackson, Unaware Knee was formed. The band’s quirky name pays homage to drummer Pete’s unfortunate onstage mishap, where he hit his knee on a speaker without realizing it, leading to an Epic drum solo that won them their first gig.

Title: “Mapped Shadows”

Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Em
Underneath the crescent moon,
C
Where the stars are in bloom,
G
We lay our hearts bare,
D
Like the shadows unaware.

(Chorus)
Em
In the mapped shadows, we dance,
C
Underneath the star’s trance.
G
Unaware of the knee that bleeds,
D
While our hearts follow where the music leads.

(Verse 2)
Em
Through the fractured lens of time,
C
We echo an ageless rhyme.
G
Unbroken, bold, we stand,
D
With melodies that command.

(Chorus)
Em
In the mapped shadows, we dance,
C
Underneath the star’s trance.
G
Unaware of the knee that bleeds,
D
While our hearts follow where the music leads.

(Bridge)
Em C
Can you see our scars in the dark?
G D
Or do they blend with the night, leaving no mark?

(Chorus)
Em
In the mapped shadows, we dance,
C
Underneath the star’s trance.
G
Unaware of the knee that bleeds,
D
While our hearts follow where the music leads.

Fan’s Testimonial:

The band’s favorite fan is a college student named Sophie. Sophie has been following Unaware Knee since their inception and is often seen front row at their concerts. She says, “Unaware Knee’s music is raw, real, and refreshingly honest. They’re not afraid to show their vulnerability, which is what makes them so relatable. Their song ‘Mapped Shadows’ speaks to me on a level that no other song has. It’s about embracing your imperfections and still finding beauty in the darkness. Unaware Knee is just not a band for me; they’re the soundtrack of my life.”
