Backstory:
Rural Pan was formed in the small town of Harper Valley in Montana. Every member of the band grew up in the heart of America’s rural landscape, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of nature, which heavily influenced their music. The group consists of five members – lead vocalist John ‘Johnny’ Decker, guitarist and backup vocalist Peter ‘Pete’ Nelson, drummer Sam ‘Slick’ Cassidy, bassist Tim ‘Tiny’ Broderick, and keyboard player Emily ‘Emma’ White.
In the summer of 2005, a chance encounter at the Harper Valley County Fair led to their formation. During an open-mic night, the members, unknown to each other at that time, found an inexplicable connection through their shared love for music. Inspired by the harmony they shared that night, they decided to form Rural Pan. Their shared backgrounds and experiences led to a unique blend of music that resonates with their rural roots and speaks to the soul of their audience.

Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is a woman named Sally Thompson. Sally has been following Rural Pan since their very first gig at the county fair. This retired teacher from Harper Valley finds solace in their music. She says, “Their songs are more than just tunes to me. They are stories that remind me of the life I’ve lived, the experiences I’ve had. It’s like their music speaks to my soul. The raw beauty of their lyrics combined with the rustic melodies transports me back to the good old days. I’ve seen a lot of change in my life, but Rural Pan’s music remains a constant.”
