Backstory:
Tangible Lip sprung to life in the bustling underground music scene of Chicago in 2005. Composed of four college friends – frontman Kevin “Kev” Mulligan, lead guitarist Sarah “Blazes” Blake, drummer Julian “Jules” Fonda, and bassist Mason “Mace” Bennett – they found an escape in music from their mundane day jobs. United by their shared love for avant-garde art and music, they started jamming in basements and slowly started gaining recognition in the local music scene for their unique sound.
Their breakthrough came in 2008 when they were discovered by music producer, Jake Anderson, at one of their gigs. He saw potential in their eclectic mix of music and raw energy. Anderson helped them secure a record deal, and Tangible Lip quickly catapulted to nationwide fame. Their distinct sound, combined with their unapologetic and honest lyrics, resonated with audiences, making them one of the most influential bands of their generation.

Title:
“Dissonant Echoes”
Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Em C G D
In the city’s grey and heartless hue,
Em C G D
We found our rhythm, we found our truth,
Em C G D
Our dreams were scattered, our hopes so few,
Em C G D
Yet we found music, our own rescue.
(Chorus)
G D Em C
In the dissonant echoes, we found our voice,
G D Em C
In the clamor and chaos, we made our choice,
G D Em C
To write our story, to claim our poise,
G D Em C
In the dissonant echoes, we found our rejoice.
(Verse 2)
Em C G D
From the basement’s dust to the stage’s light,
Em C G D
We stumbled, we fought, igniting the night,
Em C G D
In the dissonance, we crafted our flight,
Em C G D
In our music, we found our might.
(Chorus)
G D Em C
In the dissonant echoes, we found our song,
G D Em C
Amid the confusion, where we belong,
G D Em C
No regrets, no right or wrong,
G D Em C
In the dissonant echoes, we are strong.

Jenny states, “I’ve been a fan of Tangible Lip since their early Chicago days. I connected with their music on such a personal level. It’s not just about the catchy beats and guitar solos; it’s the rawness of the lyrics, the very honesty that seeps through each note. It’s like they’ve put my thoughts and emotions into songs. Their music has helped me through some tough times, and for that, I will always be grateful. Tangible Lip isn’t just my favorite band; they’re a part of me.”
