Crushing Pancake has its roots in the bustling music scene of Austin, Texas, where the four members first crossed paths. Consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist, Sam “The Pancake” Wilson; bassist, Mike “Crush” Turner; drummer, Steve “The Whisk” Reynolds; and keyboardist, Katie “Butter” Bell, each brought their unique musical backgrounds to form an ensemble that would later become a leading name in the indie music circuit. They initially started performing in local bars and clubs, often paid with free beer and pancakes, which eventually led to their quirky name. Their energy and original songs quickly gained popularity, leading them to record their first album, establishing them in the music industry.

Title:
“Sticky Syrup & Broken Hearts”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C Am
Once had a love, sweet as a pancake,
F G
Drenched in syrup, no room for heartache,
C Am
But like sugar, it began to flake,
F G
Sticky syrup and a heart’s break.
(Chorus)
C Am
Crushing Pancake, where do we go?
F G
Is love just a show, or in the dough?
C Am
Taste of love is a bittersweet fake,
F G
Crushing Pancake, for heaven’s sake.
(Verse 2)
C Am
Butter your toast, spread it wide and far,
F G
Catch a falling star, strum that guitar,
C Am
Sing the blues, for it’s love you forsake,
F G
In this sticky mess, called Crushing Pancake.
(Chorus)
C Am
Crushing Pancake, where do we go?
F G
Is love just a show, or in the dough?
C Am
Taste of love is a bittersweet fake,
F G
Crushing Pancake, for heaven’s sake.
Favorite Fan Testimonial:
“My name is Jenny, and I’ve been following Crushing Pancake since their early days in Austin. Their music, particularly ‘Sticky Syrup & Broken Hearts,’ has a way of resonating with me. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s relatable – a true embodiment of indie rock. There’s an authenticity to their lyrics that speaks to life’s ups and downs, love’s sweetness, and its occasional bitterness. Crushing Pancake is my favorite band because they remind me that it’s okay to feel, to be human, to love, and to lose. Their music isn’t just something you hear; it’s something you feel deeply.”
