Stingy Stress

Backstory:

Stingy Stress started as a three-piece in the dimly lit basement of a Portland, Oregon apartment complex way back in 2012. The band’s founding members – Jace “Jazz” Doyle on lead vocals and guitar, Max “Mad Max” Tibbs on bass, and Lucy “Loose” Rhinehart on drums – were all recovering from the break-up of their previous band projects. Fuelled by a shared desire to create music purely for the joy of it and devoid of commercial pressures, Stingy Stress was birthed. The band now stands as a beacon of unique sound in the otherwise cookie-cutter music industry.

Despite a modest beginning, Stingy Stress quickly gained a following through their raw, energetic live shows and their innovative approach to songwriting. They were known for their late-night jam sessions, which often resulted in spontaneous street concerts. Their unusual mix of music genres and lyrical storytelling provided a fresh and unconventional sound that resonated with listeners.

Title:

“Beneath the Neon”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse)
Em G
Beneath the neon, lights are low,
D A
Running through an afterglow,
Em G
Washed by rain, kissed by snow,
D A
This is where the lost ones go.

(Chorus)
C G
Searching through the city’s chest,
D Em
Finding solace in its stress,
C G
We are the stingy, we’re the best,
D Em
Underneath the neon, we find rest.

(Verse)
Em G
Strumming chords of life’s despair,
D A
On streets that never seemed to care,
Em G
Finding hope in the city’s glare,
D A
In this melody, we share.

(Chorus)
C G
Dancing with the city’s jest,
D Em
Living with the stingy stress,
C G
We are dreamers in this mess,
D Em
Beneath the neon, we confess.

Fan Testimonial:

My name is Billy “Bassline” Perkins, and I’ve been following Stingy Stress since their early days. They are my favorite band because of their authenticity and the raw emotion they pour into every song. They are not just musicians, but storytellers, narrating the human experience with every beat and strum. Their song “Beneath the Neon” speaks to my soul, it’s a testament to life’s beauty amidst chaos. Stingy Stress, with their indie-rock/alternative-folk fusion, has created a unique tapestry of sound that makes my spirit soar. I’ve never felt so connected to music, and for this, Stingy Stress will always be my number one.
