Backstory:
Hailing from the Manatee County in Florida, the band Scaly Nation was formed in 2014 by four friends with a shared passion for reptiles and music. The band members include frontman and lead vocalist, Liam “Lizard King” Sullivan, guitar virtuoso, Benny “Basilisk” Brooks, hard-hitting drummer, Owen “Ophidian” Miller, and the funk-inspired bassist, Jake “Jabberwocky” Rodriguez. Their love for reptiles inspired the name Scaly Nation and they often incorporate themes regarding reptiles and their conservation into their songs.
Their journey began in small, sweaty garage jam sessions, which gradually evolved into performances at local bars and music festivals. Their unique fusion of music and reptile-inspired lyrics swiftly gained local recognition and a dedicated fan base. A significant turning point in their career happened in 2017, when their debut album “Crawl Space” received unexpected acclaim from a national audience, propelling Scaly Nation into the spotlight.
