Backstory:

Shoddy Sheep is an improbable mix of four musicians hailing from different corners of the globe, brought together by their shared passion for music and their serendipitous meeting at a small Irish pub in Boston. The band’s members are lead vocalist Jack “Jester” McGill from Dublin, lead guitarist Hiram “Hawk” Okoro from Nigeria, bassist Ming “Maverick” Zhou from China, and drummer Carlos “Coyote” Martinez from Mexico. Shoddy Sheep was officially formed in 2012 when they decided to take their jam sessions beyond the pub, fueled by the positive response from the local crowd. Their unique blend of cultural backgrounds has resulted in a truly original sound that has captured the hearts of many music lovers.

The band name, Shoddy Sheep, is a nod to Jester’s Irish heritage and a playful self-deprecation of their initial lack of direction. The “shoddy” aspect has since evolved to represent their unconventional approach to music, refusing to conform to mainstream standards, while the “sheep” signifies their unity as a band, always sticking together.

The band’s favorite fan is a lively Irish woman named Maureen Murphy. Maureen was the bartender at the pub where the band first formed. She has always been supportive, encouraging them from their initial pub gigs to their worldwide tours.
