Wry Guilt

Backstory:

Wry Guilt, born from the bustling underground scene of Seattle, Washington, is a beacon of raw emotion and gritty storytelling. Comprised of frontman Lucas Graves, drummer Samuel Colt, bassist Keith Thorn, and lead guitarist Riley Harper, the band formed in 2013, uniting over a shared love for raw, emotion-driven music. They found their footing in the realm of grunge rock, weaving personal narratives with powerful instrumentals to create a sound that was undeniably their own.

The band’s journey wasn’t without its bumps- after a series of unfortunate events, including a devastating studio fire, they found themselves on the brink of disbanding. This struggle, encapsulated in their music, resonates with their audience, adding an extra layer of authenticity to their sound.

“Frayed Edges”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[Am] Scars, [C] deep and unhealed
[G] Frayed edges of a [D] soul revealed
[Am] Pain, [C] raw and unrefined
[G] Lingering shadows [D] in my mind

(Chorus)
[F] Here in the wake of [Am] our own undoing
[C] Lost in echoes of a [G] past that’s ruined
[F] We are the wry guilt, [Am] forever yearning
[C] For a solace that’s [D] forever burning

(Verse 2)
[Am] Dreams, [C] they crumble and fade
[G] Like old walls in [D] harsh sunlight, degrade
[Am] Hope, [C] a flickering flame
[G] Dances in the [D] darkness, to acclaim

(Chorus)
[F] Here in the heartbreak of [Am] our own design
[C] We are both the poison and the [G] wine
[F] We are the wry guilt, [Am] forever learning
[C] That our peace is a [D] prize, forever yearning

Testimonial:

“Wry Guilt, man, where do I start? I’ve been following them since the very beginning, before they’ve even dropped their first EP. There’s something raw and real about their music that just gets me, you know? ‘Frayed Edges’ is pretty much my life anthem. I’ve seen them live more times than I can count, and each time, their performance is electrifying. There isn’t another band out there that creates such a unique atmosphere and connection with their audience. Wry Guilt isn’t just a band for me, it’s a lifestyle.”
