Ironclad Mate

Backstory:
Ironclad Mate was formed in the coastal city of San Diego, California in 2010. Childhood friends, Nathan “Nate” Morison (lead vocals/guitar), Tommy “Tomcat” Hughes (drums) and Sam “Rook” King (bass), spent their summers surfing and jamming in Nate’s garage. Over time, their jam sessions transformed into something more serious as they found a unique sound that combined their shared love for punk rock and their coastal roots. The band name, Ironclad Mate, was inspired by their love for chess and symbolizes the strength of their bond.

In 2015, they brought on a fourth member, Lilly “Queen” Thompson (keyboard/vocals). Lilly, a classically trained pianist, added a new depth to their sound and helped shape the band’s distinct musical style. Together, they started performing at local bars and soon built a cult following with their high-energy performances and catchy, thoughtful lyrics.
