Optimal Station

Backstory:

Optimal Station was formed in the warm and eclectic music scene of Austin, Texas. The band members all come from diverse musical backgrounds but developed a shared synergy after meeting in a music theory course at the University of Texas. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist, Alex Crawford, a classical music student; drummer and backup vocalist, Jenny Hall, a jazz enthusiast; and bassist, Brian Choi, a die-hard fan of blues and rock. After spending innumerable nights jamming in their shared apartment, they eventually began to fuse their distinct styles to create a unique, fresh sound, and thus, Optimal Station was born.

Their band name, Optimal Station, was inspired by their shared apartment which they referred to as their ‘optimal station’. They believed it was the meeting point of their diverse musical paths and the birthplace of their creativity. After debuting in local gigs and music festivals, they quickly gained popularity in the local scene, and their journey eventually led them to sign a record deal.

Backstory:
Natural Clinic is a band that was born in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, formed by college friends who found a shared passion for music and nature. The band members, lead singer Jake Miller, guitarist Ethan Smith, bassist Ryan Thompson, and drummer Alex Johnson, were students at the University of Colorado where they studied music and environmental science. Their shared passion for these two significant elements in their lives inspired them to form Natural Clinic. The name was chosen as a reflection of their belief in the healing and rejuvenating power of nature and the need to address environmental issues through their music.

Starting off as a group of high-school misfits in the small town of Cedar Creek, Oregon, Dangerous Crime was formed in 2008 by its three original members: lead vocalist and guitarist, Jack “Razor” Reynolds, bassist, Tommy “Thunder” Mitchell, and drummer, Danny “Demon” Morris. Their shared love of rebellion and rock music brought them together, forming what would eventually become a symbol of defiance against the mainstream music industry. After years of playing local gigs and producing rough, DIY records, Dangerous Crime was discovered in 2012 by Maverick Records, allowing them to break into the national scene with their raw energy and unapologetic sound.

Born amidst the bustling streets of Seattle in 2013, Monumental Theory is an ensemble of four music enthusiasts who sought to create their own unique sound. Doting Bush was formed in the small town of Bexley, England in the summer of 2010. They decided to start a band and were later joined by bassist, Amelia Jones, and lead guitarist, Jake Mitchell. The band’s name, Doting Bush, was inspired by the lush, green landscapes of their hometown. Hefty Pope is a band that came together in the coastal city of San Francisco in 2013. Their bond formed over countless jam sessions in their cramped dorm rooms and in the bustling cafés down Lombard Street. Their shared love for psychedelic rock and an unconventional approach to songwriting led them to form Hefty Pope.

The name ‘Hefty Pope’ was derived from an inside joke about a muscular papal figure that one of them came up with during a late-night brainstorming session. Cold Volunteer was birthed from the icy chill of a harsh winter in the heart of Chicago, 2007. Longtime friends, Tom Whittaker (lead vocals, guitar) and George Reilly (drums) sought solace from the unforgiving cold in their shared love of music, jamming in the poorly heated garage they dubbed as their rehearsal space. As the winter grew colder, their bond and the music grew stronger, ultimately culminating in the formation of ‘Cold Volunteer’. Feeling the staleness of life without their jobs, they started to channel their experiences and emotions into music.
