Backstory:
Frugal Hypothesis was formed in the quaint, historic town of Oxford, England in 2010. University friends Alexander ‘Lex’ Morley, an economics student, and Jasper Andrews, a molecular biologist, found common ground over their shared love for music and using it as a platform to articulate their academic ideas creatively. Combining Lex’s economic theories and Jasper’s scientific propositions, they created a unique blend of intellectually stimulating music. The addition of drummer, Camille DeRouen, a visiting student from Louisiana, added a dash of southern charm and brought an unexpected richness to their music.
Genre:
Frugal Hypothesis plays in the genre of Progressive Rock, with a unique blend of intellectual lyrics, intricate melodies, and innovative rhythms. Their music often incorporates elements from various genres, including jazz, classical, and folk, resulting in a distinctive and thought-provoking sound.

Band’s Favorite Fan:
Our favorite fan is an economics professor named Dr. Richard Sterling. In his testimonial, he says, “As an economist, I appreciate the intellectual depth and creativity of Frugal Hypothesis. Their music allows me to see my work from a fresh perspective, and it’s a delight to hear complex economic theories expressed so beautifully. Furthermore, their ability to blend these ideas with captivating rhythms and melodies is truly unique. Their song ‘Economic Entropy’ is a symphony of chaos theory and economic principles that is as thought-provoking as it is melodically pleasing. For me, there’s no other band like Frugal Hypothesis.”
