Sunny Marketing

Backstory:

Sunny Marketing started off as a spontaneous dorm room jam session at the University of California, San Diego. Students and future band members, Kevin Tran and Sarah Johnston, found a unique connection in their mutual love for music. Kevin, a marketing major, and Sarah, an English major, had varying musical influences but shared a common passion for storytelling through song. After a series of dorm-room performances and open-mic nights, they officially formed Sunny Marketing in 2011. As their fanbase grew, they added two more members, bassist Alex Rodriguez and drummer Lisa Meyers, both shared the same passion for music while studying business. The band name comes from their shared optimistic view of life and their unique approach to “marketing” their music, through authentic and heartfelt lyrics rather than gimmicks or trends.

Genre:

Sunny Marketing is best known for their Indie Pop-Rock sound. Their music is characterized by catchy hooks, upbeat rhythms, and poetic, often narrative lyrics.

“Chasing the Sun”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Am F
Wake up in the morning, chase the rising sun,
C G
Running from the shadows, life has just begun.
Am F
We’re selling dreams and hopes, in this melody,
C G
In a world of chaos, we’ll find our serenity.

(Chorus)
Am F
Chasing the sun, we’re always on the run,
C G
Our journey has only just begun.
Am F
Here’s to the dreamers, the believers, and the fighters,
C G
In the market of life, we’re the sunny lighters.

(Verse 2)
Am F
Through the highs and lows, no matter what we face,
C G
In every chord and verse, we’ll find our place.
Am F
In the rhythm of life, we’ll find our beat,
C G
With every song we sing, we’ll never admit defeat.

(Chorus)
Am F
Chasing the sun, we’re always on the run,
C G
Our journey has only just begun.
Am F
Here’s to the dreamers, the believers, and the fighters,
C G
In the market of life, we’re the sunny lighters.

She says, “Sunny Marketing isn’t just a band to me, they’re a beacon of positivity. Their music has seen me through some of the hardest times of my life. Whenever I felt down, their uplifting lyrics and infectious tunes have always provided a sense of solace. Their authenticity is refreshing in a world often filled with artificiality. They’re more than just my favorite band, they’re my sunshine on a cloudy day.”
