Backstory:
Spherical Butter was formed in the hazy, bohemian boroughs of Brooklyn, New York, in the late 1990s. The band’s founding members, lead singer Jay Wander and drummer Chip Riggs, were childhood friends who bonded over their shared love of music. After years of playing in various garage bands, they decided to venture out and create their unique sound, bringing in dynamic bassist Melony Chen and enigmatic guitarist Rick “Mantis” Martin. The band’s name, Spherical Butter, was inspired by a bizarre dream Jay had about a world where everything was round – including butter.

The band worked meticulously to create their unique and genre-defying sound over the years. The band’s perseverance and raw talent eventually caught the attention of indie music label, Moonfly Records, which signed them in 2003. Since then, Spherical Butter has been a sensation, capturing hearts with their eccentricity and soulful performances.

Spherical Butter’s most dedicated fan is undoubtedly Tommy “The Sphere” Jacobsen. A music enthusiast and amateur guitarist, Jacobsen was drawn to the band’s unique sound and instantly fell in love with their experimental indie rock beats.
