BACKSTORY:
Born and raised in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, the members of Puzzling Pocket stumbled upon each other in the most unlikely of ways. Lead vocalist and guitarist Sam Connelly was a regular performer at a local café where bassist James “Jazz” McKinley happened to work part-time. Their common love for music led them to form an initial duo, but they soon realized they needed more depth to their sound. That’s when they discovered the energetic drummer, Cassie Ryan, performing at a local drumming contest. The trio instantly hit it off, and Puzzling Pocket was formed.
The band started off by performing at local bars and college festivals, earning a reputation for their unique rhythms and thought-provoking lyrics. Their journey wasn’t easy, with each member juggling part-time jobs and their passion for music. However, their determination and love for their art kept them going. Eventually, their hard work paid off when they got their big break, signing with a prominent indie record label in the city.
