Stupid Elbow

Backstory:
Stupid Elbow emerged from the heart of Portland, Oregon in 2003. The eccentrically named band was formed by childhood friends Bob Turner (vocals and guitar) and Sam Roberts (drums). They were soon joined by Stacy Reed on violin and Terry Clark on bass, and the quartet quickly began making a name for themselves in the underground indie rock scene. The name ‘Stupid Elbow’ was born out of a clumsy incident during their first practice session where Bob knocked over a drum set with his elbow, leading to an instant classic band name.

“Coffee Stains & Broken Strings”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] Wake up in the morning with the [C] sun in my eyes,
[G] Coffee stains on the table, and the [C] day’s first light.
[G] Broken strings on my guitar but I [C] still play it right,
[G] Life’s a mess, but it’s a beautiful [C] sight.

(Chorus)
[D] Coffee stains & broken strings, [C] that’s my life,
[G] In this crazy world, with its [D] trouble and strife.
[D] Coffee stains & broken strings, [C] I wouldn’t change a thing,
[G] It’s the simple things that [D] make my heart sing.

(Verse 2)
[G] Walking down the street with the [C] wind in my hair,
[G] The smell of rain in the air, and the [C] freedom I bear.
[G] Broken dreams, but I don’t really [C] care,
[G] As long as I’ve got my music, [C] I’ll go anywhere.

(Chorus)
[D] Coffee stains & broken strings, [C] that’s my world,
[G] In this crazy life, like a [D] flag unfurled.
[D] Coffee stains & broken strings, [C] I wouldn’t trade it for gold,
[G] It’s the simple things, that [D] never get old.
