Backstory:
The roots of the ‘Paltry Spokesman’ trace back to a small town garage in Illinois where four childhood friends picked up their first instruments. Starting out as a high school band performing covers at local gigs, they honed their skills and developed a unique sound that combined their shared love of classic rock and blues. As their popularity grew locally, they began to write original material, which resonated with audiences of all ages. The band’s name came from a joke amongst the members, referring to their frontman’s lack of public speaking skills; ironically, he was the band’s primary lyricist and songwriter.

“Rusted Chains”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Walkin’ down a [C] lonesome road, [Em] got no place to [D] be,
[G] The world’s a heavy [C] load, but [Em] it’s just you and [D] me.
[G] Shadows of the [C] past, [Em] haunt our [D] every day,
[G] Rusted chains that [C] bind us, [Em] won’t just go [D] away.
(Chorus)
[C] Rusted chains, [D] can’t break free,
[G] Living in a [Em] memory.
[C] Rusted chains, [D] hold us tight,
[G] In the darkness, [Em] we seek the light.
(Verse 2)
[G] Echoes of the [C] laughter, [Em] drown the cries of [D] pain,
[G] Chasing what we’re [C] after, [Em] like running in the [D] rain.
[G] The past is a [C] prison, [Em] where we serve our [D] time,
[G] But the key to [C] freedom, [Em] is in this heart of [D] mine.
(Chorus)
[C] Rusted chains, [D] can’t break free,
[G] Living in a [Em] memory.
[C] Rusted chains, [D] hold us tight,
[G] In the darkness, [Em] we seek the light.
