Female Self

Backstory:
Female Self is a vibrant band hailing from the unassuming town of Northampton, Massachusetts. The band formed during a gender studies class in Smith College, when four classmates discovered a shared love for music and a deep desire to channel their feminine power into songs that could inspire and embolden listeners. Thus, Female Self was born, composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Lily, drummer Sarah, bassist and backup vocalist Jess, and keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Grace. United by their passion for gender equality and empowerment, they strive to create music that resonates with their experiences, challenges societal norms, and celebrates the complexity and strength of womanhood.

“Cacophony of Strength”

Lyrics:

Verse 1: [C] I walk a line that’s [F] razor thin,
[G] Trying to fit in a [C] world not meant for me
[C] Wearing a mask, a [F] constant spin,
[G] Trapped in a dance, I [C] yearn to be free

Chorus: [Am] Hear my voice, feel my [F] rage,
[C] Rising from the silence, breaking the [G] cage
[Am] I am a woman, hear my [F] roar,
[C] In the cacophony of strength, I am [G] more

Verse 2: [C] I refuse to be [F] just a silhouette,
[G] More than a whisper in the [C] wind that you forget
[C] I’m a storm, a [F] fierce tempest,
[G] The rise and fall of the tide, a force [C] you can’t resist

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge: [Am] I am the ember, I am the [F] flame,
[C] Womanhood is not a game,

[C] In the cacophony of strength, we keep [G] going

(Repeat Chorus)

Outro: [C] I am the voice, I am the [F] song,
[G] In this cacophony of strength, I [C] belong
