Backstory:
In the year 2012, four musicians met by chance at an open mic night in a small dive bar in Melbourne, Australia. Each brought a unique musical background and perspective, but had a shared love for creating innovative, soulful music. United by their spontaneous passion, they decided to form a band called ‘Better Mate’. The band includes lead vocalist and guitarist Jamie, bassist Alex, drummer Chris, and keyboardist Benny. They drew inspiration from their personal lives, surrounding landscapes, and the cultural melting pot that is Melbourne, infusing it all into their music.
After years of performing at local gigs, Better Mate was discovered by a renowned record label executive in 2016. The band’s blend of musical styles, combined with their meaningful lyrics, captured the attention of both the executive and their growing fanbase. Now, Better Mate has toured extensively across Australia, always returning to their roots for inspiration and grounding.
