Formed in the gritty underbelly of Detroit, Michigan, in 2010, Calculating Knife was originally intended to be a one-night-only performance for a local charity event. However, the undeniable chemistry between lead guitarist and vocalist, Alex “Razor” Novak, bassist, Charlie “Cutter” Lawson and drummer, Samantha “Switchblade” Turner, led to an unexpected but welcome shift in their plans. The band members, each individually steeped in the rich musical history of their city, decided to merge their unique styles to create an innovative sound that resonates with their listeners deeply.
