Backstory:
Wan Cake is an eclectic mix of four friends hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, who combined their love for music to form a band. Ewan “Edgy” McAlister, the charismatic lead vocalist, met the eccentric guitarist Adam “Adz” McGregor and talented drummer Samuel “Sammy” Davidson in high school, bonding over their shared love for music. Later, they were joined by their University friend, Clara “Cee” Thompson, who brought her soulful bass guitar skills into the mix. The band’s name, Wan Cake, is a play on their favorite Scottish dessert and their interpretation of the world – sweet, layered, and full of surprises.

(Verse 1)
Em G
Drifting on a highland mist,

Looking for a lover’s tryst,

Underneath the crescent moon,

Hoping it won’t end too soon.

Whispers of a tender kiss,

Lost in the rhythm, we persist,

Dancing, dancing on a highland mist.

Through the heather, we roam,

Underneath the Scottish dome,

Barefoot, spirit free and wild,

In the land that’s nature’s child.

Dancing, dancing, on a highland mist,
Em C
With the stars as our only list,
G D
In the rhythm, lost in the gist,
Em C
Dancing, dancing on a highland mist.
Fan’s Testimonial:
My name’s Agnes McTavish, and I’ve been following Wan Cake since their first gig at The Caves in Edinburgh. Their unique blend of alternative rock mixed with a touch of Celtic influence is what makes them special. “Dancing on a Highland Mist” resonates with my soul, it’s like they’ve captured the essence of Scotland in a song. Their music is raw, honest and brimming with emotions. They’re more than just my favourite band, they’re a part of me.
