Backstory:
Equatorial Male was formed in 2014 when four disparate musicians found their rhythms on the tropical shores of Bali. The band was born by chance when lead vocalist and guitarist, Miles ‘Monsoon’ Thompson, met drummer, Malik ‘Typhoon’ Abdullah, during a music festival. Their shared love for music that transcends boundaries led them to create a sound that uniquely combined their cultural influences. With the addition of bassist, Sid ‘Tsunami’ Gupta, and keyboardist, Liam ‘Cyclone’ O’Sullivan, the band found its harmonious balance. Despite their diverse origins – Australia, Indonesia, India, and Ireland respectively – the quartet innately understood each other, creating a musical language that resonated with audiences worldwide.
Their debut album “Tropical Tempest” was a critical success, placing them firmly on the international music scene. The band’s music is characterized by soulful lyrics, catchy hooks, and a dance-worthy beat that is as versatile as the band’s cultural mosaic.
