Backstory:
Self-Reliant Discretion came into existence in the early 2010s in the heart of New York City’s vibrant underground music scene. Its members, lead vocalist Anna Ryan, guitarist Ben Johnson, bassist Charlotte Miller, and drummer Danny Gibson, met in a small alternative music club, each drawn by a shared love for unconventional, thought-provoking music. They bonded over late-night jam sessions and philosophical discussions, eventually translating their shared experiences and ideas into their unique sound.
The band started playing in local bars and clubs, quickly developing a devoted fanbase with their distinctive music and heartfelt performances. They gained wider recognition after their performance at the SXSW festival, which caught the attention of the national music press. Despite their growing success, Self-Reliant Discretion remains dedicated to their roots, prioritizing the authenticity of their music and maintaining a deep connection with their fans.
