Red Income

Backstory:

Red Income was born in the back alleys of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The quartet, made up of childhood friends, Johnny ‘Scars’ McCartney (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mark ‘Shifty’ Mitchell (lead guitar, backing vocals), Pete ‘Thunder’ Hammond (drums), and Stan ‘Lucky’ Lewis (bass), were inseparable from a young age. They started playing in their parents’ garages, honing their skills before stepping foot into local pubs and clubs. A shared love for grunge and southern rock led them to create a sound that was an extraordinary fusion of both genres. Their band name, Red Income, was derived from the hardships they faced as struggling musicians, a nod to the red ink that often marked their financial records.

The rawness, the authenticity, the pain, and the hope – it’s all so palpable. ‘Barefoot in the Rain’ is my anthem; it’s a song of resilience and finding peace within oneself despite the challenges. Red Income’s music has given me strength and comfort in my darkest times. They might have started out as a group of friends playing in garages, but to me, they are heroes who use their music as a beacon of hope.”
