Backstory:

Elegant Government was formed in London, England, in the spring of 2004. The band is composed of four members – lead vocalist and guitarist Liam Parks, drummer Oliver Smith, bassist Richard Ames, and keyboardist Sally Stone. The group met at a local open mic night and, after a spontaneous jam session, they realized they had a unique musical chemistry. They began rehearsing in Richard’s garage and soon were performing gigs across London. Their politically charged yet melodically driven sound quickly attracted a local following.

The band was signed by indie label, SilverRecords, in 2006. Their debut album, ‘Propaganda and Melodies’, was a critical success and positioned Elegant Government as one of the most promising indie bands in England. Despite their initial popularity, the band remained dedicated to their craft and their message, maintaining a consistent output of thought-provoking, socially conscious music.
