Backstory:
Formed in the bustling city of Toronto, Canada, in the chilly winter of 2015, Male Knee is the brainchild of childhood friends Alex Griggs and Ryan Payton. The duo, who grew up sharing a deep love for music, decided to create a band to channel their creativity and passion. Alex, a naturally gifted guitarist, and Ryan, a charismatic vocalist with a flair for songwriting, both quit their day jobs to dedicate themselves full-time to their shared dream. The name “Male Knee” was inspired from a misunderstood conversation during one of their late-night jamming sessions, and it stuck for its quirkiness and uniqueness.
Male Knee’s journey wasn’t smooth sailing from the start, but the duo’s determination saw them through numerous challenges. Their raw talent and refreshing sound quickly gained traction in the local music scene. The band gained significant recognition after their live performance at Toronto’s famed ‘Underground Sound’ music festival.
