Backstory:
Gripping Charge emerged from the vibrant underground music scene of New York City in the late 2000s. The band originally started as a trio of college friends: lead guitarist and vocalist Tommy “Tug” Mathews, bassist Max “Maverick” Aberdeen, and drummer Billy “Blitz” Lutz. They bonded over a shared love for high energy music and decided to start their own band, writing their own songs and performing in and around their local neighborhoods. As their music evolved, they added keyboardist and backing vocalist, Lisa “Lightning” Gomez, further solidifying their unique sound. The band’s unique blend of rock, grit, and melody quickly garnered them a devoted local following. From basement shows to music festivals, Gripping Charge steadily rose up the ranks, gaining notoriety and respect within the music community.
