Backstory:
Superficial Time was born out of the ashes of a once-famous Denver music scene. In the winter of 2016, four frustrated musicians; Milo, Jeff, Lucy, and Tony, found themselves sharing a mutual yearning for a unique sound. Milo, the lead singer and song-writer, is a failed poet with a knack for making heartbreak sound beautiful. Jeff, the lead guitarist, was a former punk rock enthusiast, who found solace in the quieter, more melodic strains of alternative rock. Lucy, the bassist with a love for classical music, added a certain depth to the band with her strong background. Tony, the drummer, is the youngest, with a taste for jazz and an uncanny ability to blend it subtly into the band’s sound. Together, they formed ‘Superficial Time,’ a name they felt best represented the transience of their experiences and the world they grew up in.
Their musical journey was all about embracing the superficiality of life and turning it into something profound. Their music tells stories about love, heartbreak, and existential dread, but it also celebrates the beauty of the mundane, the everyday, and the overlooked. They’ve seen their share of highs and lows, including a failed debut album, but their second album, “Fleeting Seconds,” was a hit, catapulting them into the alternative rock limelight.

Title:
“Paper Souls”
Full Song Lyrics:
(V1)
Am | G | C
I saw you standing, by the edge of the world,
Dancing with the shadows, a lost paper soul.
The city was sleeping, and the moon was your crown,
In your silence, I found my sound.
(Chorus)
F | Am | G
Paper souls, in the wind, we twirl,
Lost in the labyrinth, of this superficial world.
Paper souls, we’re just stories yet to be told,
Heartbreak’s currency, love bought and sold.
(V2)
Am | G | C
In the quiet of the night, underneath the stars,
We stitched our dreams, on the canvas of our scars.
Ink spilled from our hearts, painting our destiny,
Paper souls, lost in the beautiful tragedy.
(Chorus)
F | Am | G
Paper souls, flying on love’s borrowed time,
Chasing echoes of laughter, and the perfect rhyme.
Paper souls, in the symphony of the night,
A fleeting memory, in the morning light.
(Outro)
Am | G | C | F
Paper souls, hear our symphony,
In the heart of the night, we’ll forever be,
Just paper souls, in the superficial time,
Singing our stories, in life’s perfect rhyme.

“Superficial Time is not just a band to me, they’re soundtracks to my life. They’ve managed to put into words and melodies feelings I’ve struggled to express. ‘Paper Souls’ is my personal anthem. I’ve seen them live over ten times, and each time I’m in awe of their raw energy and passion. Their music has helped me through breakups, writer’s block, and countless late-night study sessions. They are unapologetically authentic and have a sound that transcends the superficiality of time. They’re my favorite and always will be.”
