Backstory:
Bogus Detective was formed on a chilly Tuesday morning in a small town café in Seattle, where four friends found their mutual love for music. The lead vocalist, Alfred Dean, a former theater actor with a raspy voice, had a flair for writing lyrics that reflected his love for mysteries. Bassist, Thomas “Tommy” Barker, a high school teacher by day, was always fascinated with detective novels and brought the rhythm that was as captivating as the mystery books he loved. The beautiful, headstrong Jilly Donovan was the Drummer, whose hard-hitting beats were as fierce as her love for criminology. Lastly, the enigmatic lead guitarist, Rex, only ever known by his first name, with his enchanting riffs, completed the group. The name Bogus Detective was inspired by their shared passion for detective novels and their self-deprecating humour about how they’d all make terrible detectives themselves.

Title:
“Clues in the Moonlight”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[Am] Underneath the silver glow, [G] secrets only night time knows,
[F] Whispers in the shadows play, [Am] tales of love that’s gone astray.
[Am] Echoes of a forgotten crime, [G] lost in the tide of grime,
[F] We dance to the rhythm of the night, [Am] Searching for clues in the moonlight.
(Chorus)
[G] Clues in the moonlight, [Am] secrets held so tight,
[F] Truth hidden in plain sight, [Am] In the echoes of the night.
[G] Clues in the moonlight, [Am] beneath the star’s bright light,
[F] We dance till the morning light, [Am] chasing clues in the moonlight.
(Repeat verse and chorus with variations)
Favorite Fan Testimonial:
A petite woman with a bright smile and an infectious enthusiasm, Lucy Thompson has been Bogus Detective’s biggest fan since their first gig at a local coffee shop. She claims, “There’s something absolutely magical about their music. Alfred’s voice is hauntingly beautiful, and each song feels like a journey through a gripping detective novel. The way they weave the mystery into their lyrics with a melody that is equally mesmerizing, it’s a unique experience. I have all their albums, and ‘Clues in the Moonlight’ is my absolute favorite. Bogus Detective is more than a band to me, they’re storytellers who transport you to a different realm with their music.”
