Backstory:
Arid Plane formed in the desert outskirts of Tucson, Arizona in 2012. Band members Jake Hawthorn (lead vocals, guitar), Eliot Ashford (drums), and Luis Sanchez (bass) were all childhood friends who shared a common love for the rugged beauty of the Southwest and a passion for music. They spent their teenage years practicing in a makeshift garage studio, harnessing the energy of the arid landscape into their songs. Over time, they developed a unique sound encapsulating the paradox of the desert: its barrenness and its profound, quiet beauty.
When an impromptu performance at a local bar caught the attention of an indie record label, it became the launching pad for their career. Against all odds and to the surprise of many, Arid Plane’s style resonated with listeners, earning them a dedicated fanbase not only in Tucson but also extending to the international arena.

Title:
“Desert Mirage”
Lyrics:
(V1)
[G] Underneath the searing sun, [C] miles of sand to run,
[Em] Chasing shadows, [D] on the desert floor.
[G] Whispers of the western wind, [C] tales it’s yet to spin,
[Em] Through the canyons, [D] echoes from before.
(Chorus)
[C] Desert Mirage, [G] in the heart of the wild,
[Em] Your silence tells a million tales, [D] each one a wandering child.
[C] Desert Mirage, [G] under the cerulean sky,
[Em] We’re just stardust, lost in your grand lullaby. [D]
(V2)
[G] The night descends, and the stars unveil, [C] on this lonely, dusty trail,
[Em] A symphony of silence, [D] the moonlight’s gentle glow.
[G] Echoes of the ancient lore, [C] coyote’s distant roar,
[Em] In your vastness, [D] we find our hearts aglow.
(Repeat Chorus)
Fan Testimonial:
Our favorite fan is Sarah O’Connell from Dublin, Ireland. Despite never having visited the American Southwest, she fell in love with Arid Plane’s music and the landscapes they so aptly describe. Sarah says, “Their songs transport me to vast landscapes under brilliant starlit skies. They have this unique ability to evoke the wild, raw beauty of places I’ve never been to. The melodies are powerful and their lyrics poetic. It’s like they’re painting pictures with their music. Arid Plane is my favorite band because they take me on a journey with each song, and I feel a deep connection to their music.”
