Backstory:
Hailing from the rainy city of Seattle, Dry Holiday was conceived in 2013 when lead vocalist and guitarist, Jackson “Jax” Pierce, met drummer, Caleb “Cal” Dawson, in a local café. Both were burnt out from the corporate grind and found solace in their shared passion for music. As they jammed out together, something clicked. They knew they had a unique sound that needed to be shared. Along with the addition of bassist, Avery “Av” Collins, who was discovered at a charity open mic night, Dry Holiday was born. Despite their name, the band doesn’t shy away from the dreariness of their hometown, instead, they transform it into an alternative universe filled with music that’s rife with raw emotions, poetic storytelling, and complex rhythms.

Title:
“Coffee Stains and Rain”
Full song lyrics:
Verse 1:
[C] Waking up to the [Am] sound of falling rain,
[Em] Strumming chords on my [G] guitar to keep me sane,
[D] Trapped between the [C] covers, your scent still on my [G] sheets,
[A] Coffee stains on the [D] table, echoes of your [G] bittersweet.
Chorus:
[F] You’re like the coffee stains, [C] hard to erase,
[G] You’re like the pouring rain, [Am] an unsolved case,
[F] Missing you is a [C] dry holiday,
[G] In a city that never [Am] stops the rain.
Verse 2:
[C] Walking through the [Am] streets, under the Seattle sky,
[Em] Words you said to me, [G] lost in city lights,
[D] Every corner, every [C] turn, I see your [G] face,
[A] Coffee stains and rain, [D] you’re all over the [G] place.
Chorus:
[F] You’re like the coffee stains, [C] hard to erase,
[G] You’re like the pouring rain, [Am] an unsolved case,
[F] Missing you is a [C] dry holiday,
[G] In a city that never [Am] stops the rain.
