Backstory:
Overcooked Offense was born in the heart of Seattle, Washington, during the summer of 2008. Longtime childhood friends, lead singer Jo “The Offender” Jenkins, bassist Rex “Overcooked” O’Connor, guitarist Leo “Shredmaster” Smith, and drummer Tim “Beat Machine” Reeves decided to turn their shared passion for music into a creative venture. Having spent their formative years in a melting pot of musical influences, they honed their unique sound, blending elements of rock, punk and a dash of folk, to create a sonic experience that truly represents their shared experiences and struggles.

Title:
“Ballad of the Broken”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C G Am F
Left my home, with nothing but dreams,
C G Am F
Went to the city, drowned in its screams.
C G Am F
I held my heart, tight in my hands,
C G Am F
Lost in the echoes, of far-off lands.
(Chorus)
C G Am F
I’m just a pawn, in this cruel game,
C G Am F
Stars in the sky, they don’t know my name.
C G Am F
I’m the ballad of the broken, song of the shamed,
C G Am F
I’ll keep singing ‘til my last breath is claimed.
(Verse 2)
C G Am F
Under the neon, shadows grow long,
C G Am F
I find my solace, lost in this song.
C G Am F
In the face of defeat, I’ll stand tall,
C G Am F
With every fall, I’ll learn to crawl.
(Chorus)
C G Am F
I’m just a pawn, in this cruel game,
C G Am F
Stars in the sky, they don’t know my name.
C G Am F
I’m the ballad of the broken, song of the shamed,
C G Am F
I’ll keep singing ‘til my last breath is claimed.
Fan Testimonial:
My name is Sophie, and I am unabashedly the biggest Overcooked Offense fan. Their music resonates with me on a deeply personal level—it’s raw, it’s real, and it’s relatable. The band’s unique blend of rock, punk, and folk has a sort of grounding effect on me, and their lyrics speak to my soul. Every chord, every word, every beat—it’s all a part of my life’s soundtrack. I’ve seen them perform live five times, and each time is like a renewed awakening. I feel seen, I feel heard, and above all else, I feel understood. Overcooked Offense isn’t just my favorite band—they’re my lifeline.
