Late Afterthought

Backstory

Late Afterthought formed in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, in 2008. The band is composed of four lifelong friends: Jason “Jase” Morris on lead vocals and guitar, Matthew “Matty” Franklin on bass, Timothy “Tim” Harper on drums, and Andrew “Drew” Miller on lead guitar. A shared love for southern blues and rock brought them together, but it was their unique twist of mixing these genres with folk that set them apart from other local bands.

They started out playing small gigs in local bars, but their raw, emotive lyrics, coupled with their distinctive sound, quickly garnered them a following in the Nashville music scene. Their harmonious blend of the soulful blues of the South, the edgy rock they grew up on, and the homey warmth of folk has carved them a niche in the music industry that is unmistakably Late Afterthought.

Full Song Lyrics with Chord Progression

(Verse 1: C, G, Am, F)
C G
Underneath the southern sky,
Am F
On a porch, we both sat by.
C G
Talkin’ ’bout dreams and love,
Am F
And the stars that shine above.

(Chorus: F, C, G, Am)
F C
Driftwood dreams, and moonbeam sights,
G Am
Oh, those warm summer nights.
F C
Holding hands under the glow,
G Am
Where did those days go?

(Verse 2: C, G, Am, F)
C G
Streets of this old town,
Am F
Whisper secrets, all around.
C G
The echoes of our laughter still ring,
Am F
In the melody that the night winds sing.

(Chorus: F, C, G, Am)
F C
Driftwood dreams, and moonbeam sights,
G Am
Oh, those long summer nights.
F C
Holding hands under the glow,
G Am
Where did those days go?

(Outro: C, G, Am, F)
C G
Our driftwood dreams may bend and sway,
Am F
But in my heart, they’ll always stay.
