Backstory:
Formed in the grimy basement of a forgotten high school in Birmingham, Alabama, Mean Education is the brainchild of four former teachers whose shared love for music transcended the confines of the classroom. The burgeoning rock group includes lead vocalist and guitarist, Jake “Detention” Matthews, a once-mild-mannered science teacher who found his voice through music. Sharing the stage with him are drummer, Sarah “Suspension” Jones, a former gym teacher with a knack for rhythm, bassist, Ben “Homework” Davis, a math teacher who solves complex equations with his bass lines, and keyboardist, Lisa “Librarian” Smith, a literature teacher who adds a poetic touch to their lyrics.
The band’s formation was as spontaneous as a chemistry experiment gone awry. When the school’s annual talent show needed a last-minute act, the four teachers quickly banded together to perform. Their electrifying performance stole the show, and Mean Education was born. From that day forward, they traded in their textbooks for guitars and drumsticks, aiming to educate the world through their music.

“Lessons in Rebellion”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse)
Am (Em) G (D) F (C)
Wake up, it’s another day in this town,
Find a way to break the monotony down.
Skimming through pages, chasing grades,
Caught in a system that’s a charade.
(Chorus)
C (G) D (A)
Lessons in Rebellion, we are teaching,
Breaking rules, boundaries we are breaching.
A Mean Education, we are preaching,
In this school of life, it’s your heart we’re reaching.
(Verse)
Everyday a test, but what’s the score?
To fit in a box, or to explore?
A hall of questions, in each locker a dream,
In this school of life, nothing’s as it seems.
(Chorus)
Lessons in Rebellion, we’re not just teaching,
Over walls, under fences, we are leaping.
In this Mean Education, truth we’re seeking,
In this school of life, it’s your soul we’re speaking.

“I’ve been a fan of Mean Education since they jammed at the school talent show. Their music resonates with meālife isn’t about conforming, it’s about finding your groove, even if it’s offbeat. I love how they’ve transformed from ordinary teachers to rock stars without losing their passion for knowledge. Their song ‘Lessons in Rebellion’ is an anthem for all of us who have ever felt trapped in a system. Mean Education’s music isn’t just entertainment, it’s enlightenment.”
