Meek Company

Backstory:

Meek Company was founded in 2005 by four college friends who met in a music theory class at the University of Southern California. David Clark (lead vocals), Jennifer Bradley (guitar), Brian Turner (drums) and Cecilia White (bass) found a common interest in creating a unique blend of lyric-driven music that was both engaging and thought-provoking. They started Meek Company as an experiment and quickly found a growing, dedicated fan base. Over the last fifteen years, they have released six studio albums and toured across America and Europe, carving out a unique space for themselves in the indie music scene.

Title:
“The Cost of Silence”

Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] Driving alone on this [D] empty highway,
[Em] Haunted by your echo, the [C] words you never say.
[G] Wondering why we let our [D] love decay,
[Em] And the cost of silence is the [C] price we pay.

(Chorus)
[Am] But I won’t give up, [G] I won’t let go,
[D] I still believe in the [Em] love we used to know.
[Am] The silence between us [G] might grow,
[D] But our love is more than the [Em] words we don’t show.

(Verse 2)
[G] The city lights reflect in [D] my rearview mirror,
[Em] The distance growing, but [C] everything’s clearer.
[G] We lost our way, let us [D] be sincere,
[Em] The cost of silence is the [C] fear we wear.

(Chorus)
[Am] Yet I won’t back down, [G] I won’t let you drown,
[D] In the silence that’s [Em] tearing us down.
[Am] Let’s break these walls, [G] let’s make a sound,
[D] ‘Cause our love is stronger than the [Em] silence we’ve found.

(Outro)
[G] Our love was never meant [D] to be a battleground,
[Em] We can conquer the silence, let [C] our words resound.
[G] The cost of silence, a [D] price too profound,
[Em] It’s time to break the silence, [C] let’s make a sound.

Their music really resonates with me. It’s so thoughtful and honest. It’s like they’re giving voice to my own feelings, and that’s a powerful thing.
