Backstory:
Formed in the early 2000s, ‘Yawning Camp’ was born out of the friendship between childhood buddies, Sam Goddard and Lucas Mercer. Both raised in sleepy New England towns, they found respite from their mundane life in music. Sam, a self-taught guitarist, and Lucas, a poetry enthusiast, would spend their after-school hours under the old willow tree, strumming and humming tunes that resonated with their adolescent hearts. When they moved to Boston for college, they started performing at local bars and cafes, slowly gaining a loyal fan base. The duo decided to officially form a band, naming it ‘Yawning Camp’, a cheeky nod to their lackadaisical beginnings.
