Optimal Exclusion

Backstory:
Optimal Exclusion was formed in the chilly winter of 2008, in the small town of Greenwich, Connecticut. The band members, Jason Mardukas (lead vocalist), Erin Doyle (drummer), Noah Carter (bassist), and Landon Miller (guitarist), were all students at the local high school, each harboring a passion for music and a dream of making it big. They were all part of the school’s marching band, but they shared a mutual dislike for the traditional and restrictive nature of their orchestra. This led them to form their own band, “Optimal Exclusion”, a symbol of their desire to break free from conventional norms and explore their undying love for music.

Their debut at a local music festival in 2009 was a big hit and was followed by their first extended play, “Outside the Limits”, which became a local success. The band’s unique sound, fueled by raw emotion, innovative lyrics, and their passion for music, quickly gained them a dedicated following.

Title:
“Suburban Echoes”

Full song lyrics:

(Verse 1)
C#m
Wandering through the suburban maze,
A E
We found our echoes in a hazy daze.
C#m
In the realm where our dreams intertwine,
A E
With reality, we redefine.

(Chorus)
A E
Scream it out, the suburban echoes,
C#m A
Refracting our youthful shadows.
A E
In a world of our own creation,
C#m A
We find our sweet salvation.

(Verse 2)
C#m
Under the neon glow, we make our stand,
A E
In the rhythmic pulse of a rock band.
C#m
Through every strum, every beat, every song,
A E
We keep our spirits soaring, strong.

(Chorus)
A E
Scream it out, the suburban echoes,
C#m A
Painting our stories in light and shadows.
A E
In the symphony of our own ignition,
C#m A
We live out our youthful ambition.

It was like they were singing my thoughts, my dreams, my hopes. The song ‘Suburban Echoes’ in particular, speaks to me on a deeply personal level. It paints a vivid picture of youth, dreams, and the desire to break free, which is exactly what I was going through when I first heard it. I feel connected to them in a way that I never have with any other band. Optimal Exclusion isn’t just a band to me, they’re a part of my life.”
