Early Experience

Backstory

In the small town of Culpepper, Virginia, a group of high school friends, juggling between school, part-time jobs, and their shared passion for music, formed ‘Early Experience’ in 2012. The band originally started as an experiment, with impromptu jam sessions occurring in the garage of their drummer, Caleb. Their chemistry was unmistakable from the start, with the raw, emotion-filled voice of lead singer, Jessie, harmonizing perfectly with the heart-thumping beats of Caleb, the electrifying riffs from Ben on lead guitar, and the haunting melodies of Nick on the keyboard. As they gained a local following, they realized their true potential and decided to pursue their music career more seriously. Their shared experiences, from the struggles of adolescence to the joys of small-town life, serve as the inspiration behind their lyrics, earning them a reputation as lyrical storytellers.

Genre

Early Experience is best classified under the Indie Rock and Folk genre. Their music is characterized by a blend of meaningful lyrics, nostalgic melodies, and electrifying performances that echo with the essence of their roots.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Am C G D
“Underneath the willow, we used to lay,
Am C G D
Shared dreams of tomorrow and tales of today,
Am C G D
The world was so big, and we were small,
Am C G D
Beneath the willow, we had it all.”

[Chorus]
Am C G D
“Beneath the willow, the summer sun,
Am C G D
We laughed and cried, we had our run,
Am C G D
Beneath the willow, time stood still,
Am C G D
Beautiful moments, the air would fill.”

[Verse 2]
Am C G D
“Underneath the willow, we spoke of love,
Am C G D
Watched the stars twinkle from up above,
Am C G D
Innocence lost, wisdom gained,
Am C G D
Under the willow, our lives were framed.”

[Chorus]
Am C G D
“Beneath the willow, the autumn breeze,
Am C G D
Memories made, hearts at ease,
Am C G D
Beneath the willow, we grew up fast,
Am C G D
Echoes of childhood, forever to last.”

Band’s Favorite Fan

The band’s favorite fan is a local named Sarah, who has been with them from the beginning. Sarah says, “I’ve seen them grow up, make mistakes, and find their sound. Early Experience’s music resonates with me because it tells a story…our story. Their songs are not just tunes, but emotions, experiences, and memories that every small-town person can connect with. They’ve taken our shared experiences and turned them into something beautiful. And that’s why they’re my favorite band.”
