Backstory:
Worldly Basketball was formed in the heart of Seattle in 2007 at a dingy local pub where each band member was ironically watching a basketball game. The four band members, frontman Leo ‘the Lion’ Jackson, drummer Danny ‘the Rock’ Olsen, bassist ‘Silent’ Gary Thompson, and guitarist extraordinaire, ‘Jazzy’ Jake Peterson, found a common bond over their love for music and basketball. They decided to channel their musical talents into forming a band to express their shared passion, hence the unique name ‘Worldly Basketball’. Over time, they played at local gigs, eventually gaining recognition for their unique fusion of genres and meaningful lyrics, which often metaphorically linked the world, life, love, and, of course, basketball.

Title:
“Dribbling through the Heartstrings”
Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
C / G / Am / E
Running down the court of life, time ticking by,
G / D / Em / C
The crowd is roaring, life’s a game, can’t deny.
F / Dm / G / E
Got this ball in my hand, it’s my fate and command,
A / F#m / D / E
Dribbling through the heartstrings, it’s a feeling so grand.
(Chorus)
C / G / Am / E
We’re Worldly Basketball, we’ve got the ball and the soul,
G / D / Em / C
Playing the music, taking control.
F / Dm / G / E
With every beat and strum, making the crowd whole,
A / F#m / D / E
While we’re dribbling through the heartstrings, reaching our goal.
(Verse 2)
C / G / Am / E
Like the hoop in the arena, we’ve got an aim,
G / D / Em / C
To touch lives with our music, it’s not just a game.
F / Dm / G / E
Making melodies on the court of dreams,
A / F#m / D / E
We’re dribbling through the heartstrings, louder than it seems.
(Repeat Chorus)
Band’s Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is Lisa ‘Hoops’ O’Donnell. Lisa has been a fan of Worldly Basketball since their first gig in Seattle. She found their fusion of basketball imagery and alternative rock intriguing, and was hooked from the first song. Lisa says, “Worldly Basketball isn’t just a band; it’s an experience. Their lyrics resonate with me on a personal level, combining my two loves: music and basketball. They have a unique ability to translate the thrill and drama of a basketball game into their music. Each song feels like a journey, a game, a win or loss. That’s why they’re my favorite band. Their passion and dedication are simply captivating.”
