Alienated Middle

Backstory:
The ‘Alienated Middle’ is an indie folk-rock band that debuted in the late 2000s in the vibrant music scene of Austin, Texas. The band consists of childhood friends turned bandmates – lead singer and guitarist, Jacob Milner, drummer, Harry Thomas, violinist, Claire Stewart, and bassist, Max Rodriguez. The band’s name, ‘Alienated Middle,’ derives from the group’s shared feeling of being ‘in the middle’ – not quite fitting into the mainstream but also not completely outside of it. Their wide range of musical influences includes everything from The Beatles to Nirvana, which they blend seamlessly with their raw, introspective lyrics and distinctive folk-rock sound.

Title:
“Shadows and Echoes”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
G D Em C
Lost in the lanes of time, we’re just shadows and echoes,
Chasing the fading signs, through the highs and the lows.
We’re the alienated middle, not too soft, not too brittle,
No place to call home, in this lonely world we roam.

(Chorus)
Am Bm C D
We’re the night owls, the black cats in the day,
Lost in the labyrinth, trying to find our own way.
Em C G D
We’re the whispers in the silence, the untold tales,
Shadows and echoes, lost in the night’s veil.

(Verse 2)
G D Em C
We’re the echoes of a song, sung in the depth of the night,
Shadows on the wall, flickering in the moonlight.
Alienated middle, caught in a riddle,
In the quest for the truth, in our love and our youth.

(Chorus)
Am Bm C D
We’re the unseen stars, in a cloudy sky,
In the depth of despair, we learn to fly.
Em C G D
We’re the whispers in the silence, the untold mysteries,
Shadows and echoes, dancing in the breeze.

(Bridge)
Em C G D
We are the alienated middle, not quite lost, not quite found,
In the rhythm of life, in its ebb and its flow, we’re bound.

(Chorus)
Am Bm C D
We’re the embers in the ashes, the phoenix’s flight,
In the depth of the night, we ignite our own light.
Em C G D
We’re the whispers in the silence, the untold tales,
Shadows and echoes, lost in the night’s veil.

Emily Johnson

Testimonial:
Emily Johnson has been following ‘Alienated Middle’ since their first gig in a local bar. “Their music speaks to my soul,” Emily says. “Their lyrics resonate with my experience of feeling in between, not quite fitting into any box society tries to put me in. The way they blend folk and rock, it’s like they’ve created a genre all their own. And the raw emotion in their performances? It’s like witnessing magic. They’re not just a band, they’re my refuge, my solace, my escape. They’re ‘Alienated Middle’, and they’re my absolute favorite.”
