Backstory:
Colossal Hat is a group hailing from the eclectic city of Portland, Oregon. The band consists of four members – lead vocalist/guitarist Sarah “Sly” Lymon, bassist Caleb “C-note” Norsworthy, drummer Eli “Echo” Henley, and keyboardist/guitarist Owen “Oracle” Rafferty. They formed in 2009, bonding over a shared love of music and an appreciation for vintage headwear. The name of their band was coined during a late-night songwriting session when Sarah took off her oversized fedora, affectionately referred to as the “colossal hat”, and declared it their official mascot.
Over the years, they have solidified their place in the music industry with their unique sound and authentic lyrics. Though they have seen their fair share of adversity, including a near-breakup in 2014, they have always managed to find their way back to each other and their shared passion for music. Their journey has only made them stronger, and their music better, reflecting a deep understanding of life’s highs and lows.

Title:
“Streets of Yesterday”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[Em] Walking down the [G] streets of yesterday,
[D] Memories flood [Am] back in a faded gray,
[Em] I see your smile, [G] I hear your laugh,
[D] Amid the chaos, [Am] you were my safe path.
(Chorus)
[C] And I know we’ve [G] been through a thousand wars,
[D] And I know we’ve [Bm] closed so many doors,
[C] But in the streets of [G] yesterday, I’m finding
[D] You were always, [Bm] always on my mind.
(Verse 2)
[Em] The coffee shop, [G] our quiet place
[D] Now it echoes [Am] with your trace,
[Em] And I can’t help [G] but feel the space,
[D] The void you left, [Am] can’t quite replace.
(Chorus)
[C] And I know we’ve [G] fought a thousand wars,
[D] And I know we’ve [Bm] closed so many doors,
[C] But in the streets of [G] yesterday, I realize,
[D] You were always, [Bm] always worth the fight.

“Colossal Hat is more than just a band to me. Their music has been my companion through all seasons of life – the good, the bad, and everything in between. Sarah’s voice resonates with raw emotion, and the band’s heartfelt lyrics have a way of capturing my thoughts and feelings in a way that nothing else can. The song “Streets of Yesterday” means the world to me; it’s as if they’ve put my own experiences and emotions into words. I feel seen and understood. Colossal Hat isn’t my favorite band just because they make amazing music. They’re my favorite because they make me feel less alone in the world.”
