Backstory:
Unwitting Detail was formed in a small town garage in Vermont in the spring of 2007. The group consists of four friends, Sarah Jennings (vocals, guitar), Mike Peterson (drums), Julie Davis (bass), and Tom Wilson (lead guitar). They were high school friends who shared a love for music and a desire to create something unique. While working day jobs, they spent nights and weekends in Mike’s garage, honing their sound and merging their eclectic tastes.
Despite their humble beginnings, Unwitting Detail’s music soon reached a larger audience. They self-released their first album, “Revealed in the Shadows,” in 2009, which caught the attention of local radio stations and music critics. Their unexpected blend of indie rock and folk, coupled with Sarah’s poetic lyrics, quickly gained them a loyal following. In 2012, they were signed by independent record label ‘Mountaintop Records’ and have since released three more studio albums, maintaining their trademark sound and continuing to cultivate their fan base.

(Verse 1)
[Am] Out on the edge of a [D] silent town,
[F] Wandering souls in the [C] lost and found.
[Am] We are the echo of [D] stories untold,

(Chorus)
[G] Invisible threads [C] tie us together,
[Am] Stories and songs in [D] stormy weather.
[G] We are the Unseen, [C] the Unwitting Detail,
[Am] Singing our truths as [D] life sets sail.
(Verse 2)
[Am] In every whisper of [D] an autumn breeze,
[F] In every footstep on the [C] fallen leaves.

(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
[Em] Our voices intertwining, [D] through sorrow and cheer,
[Am] Singing the ballad of [C] a love so dear.
(Repeat Chorus)
The band’s favorite fan’s name: Emily Thompson
Emily Thompson is a self-proclaimed, dedicated fan of Unwitting Detail. She says, “Unwitting Detail isn’t just my favorite band – they’re a part of my life. Their music has seen me through some of the best and worst times, offering solace and celebration in equal measure. Their lyrics resonate with me, reminding me that, like the ‘Invisible Threads’ they sing about, we’re all connected on a deeper level. I’ve been to every one of their concerts in the Northeast and even had the chance to meet them. They’re as authentic and sincere in person as they are in their music. In a world of manufactured pop, they’re a breath of fresh air.”
