Simple Map

Backstory:
Simple Map was started by childhood friends Jerry Lawson and Fredrick “Freddie” Briggs in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee. Jerry, the introverted bookworm with a gift for lyrics, and Freddie, the outgoing life-of-the-party with an incredible voice, found a common ground through their shared love for music in their early teens. They began their music journey playing at high school events and local gigs, where their unique sound quickly gained a following. Both were driven by their dreams of sharing their music with the world, and through years of hard work and dedication, Simple Map was formed. The name ‘Simple Map’ was inspired by their belief that music is like a map that navigates listeners through emotions and experiences.

Title:
“Crossroads of the Heart”

Full song Lyrics:

Verse 1: [C] You find me at the [Am] crossroads of my [Em] heart [G],
[C] Trying to find a [Am] place to [Em] start [G].

Chorus:
And I’ll [C] take you on a [G] simple map,
To the [Am] corners of my [Em] heart.
We’ll [C] travel through the [G] highs and lows,
Don’t [Am] worry, it’s just the [Em] start.

Verse 2: [C] Shadows of the past, [Am] laughter that will [Em] last [G],
[C] These are the markers on my [Am] simple [Em] map [G].

Chorus:
So we’ll [C] walk this path [G] together,
Through the [Am] storms and sunny [Em] weather.
Our [C] simple map will [G] guide us along,
To the [Am] rhythm of our life’s [Em] song.

Band’s Favorite Fan:
Our favorite fan is a young woman named Lisa Thompson. She’s been with us from the start, attending our small local gigs and then following us as we grew into a more renowned band. Lisa is not just a fan, she is a friend. She loves Simple Map because, in her words, “their music is like a balm to the soul. It’s not just about the melody or the lyrics individually, but the way they combine to create a feeling. Whether it’s a rough day or a moment of celebration, their music is my go-to. It’s as if they’ve created a ‘Simple Map’ to navigate through life.”
