Familiar Landlord

Backstory:
Familiar Landlord is composed of four childhood friends from the small town of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The band was formed in 2012 when the friends were in high school, initially as a way to escape the drudgery of their suburban lives and foster a shared love for music. As they moved away for college and jobs, they found themselves often reunited in their hometown, where their bond and music continued to flourish. The name “Familiar Landlord” came about from their shared experience of renting from the same landlord throughout college. The songs they create reflect their personal experiences, struggles, and the undying friendship they share.

Genre:
Indie Rock with a touch of folk

“Across the Divides”

Full song lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[F] Standing at the crossroads where [C] dreams and reality collide,
[G] Wondering if our paths would [Am] ever realign.
[F] We were brothers in arms, with [C] hearts that were intertwined,
[G] But time and distance, [Am] they divided our lives.

(Chorus)
[C] Across the divides, [G] through the sands of time,
[F] We’ll find each other on the [Am] other side.
[C] With the same old songs, [G] and the same old rhymes,
[F] We’re the Familiar [G] Landlords of our [C] time.

(Verse 2)
[F] City lights and college nights, [C] we felt so alive,
[G] Every chord and lyric [Am] was a testament to survive.
[F] We kept the fires burning, [C] the spirit of our prime,
[G] We were just four souls, [Am] trying to find our vibe.

(Repeat Chorus)
[C] Across the divides, [G] through the sands of time,
[F] We’ll find each other on the [Am] other side
[C] With the same old songs, [G] and the same old rhymes,
[F] We’re the Familiar [G] Landlords of our [C] time.
