Backstory:
Homely Decline rose from the timeless dust of the midwestern American plains. Three childhood friends, Liam on vocals and guitar, Jonny on bass and vocals, and Riley on drums, found refuge in the world of music. Their shared experience of leaving small-town life and chasing dreams in the city of Los Angeles gave birth to the band Homely Decline. The band’s music reflects the bittersweet journey of leaving the familiarity of home for the pursuit of ambition, resulting in a sound filled with raw emotion, vivid storytelling, and soulful harmonies.

Title:
“Where the Cornfields Grow”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[C] Out where the [G] cornfields grow
[Am] We used to [F] play and laugh and grow
[C] But now I’m [G] here in LA city’s glow
[Am] It’s not the [F] same, it’s not my home
(Chorus)
[G] Take me back to [C] where the cornfields grow
[Am] Where life was [F] simple, where we used to go
[G] I miss the [C] way the midwestern wind would blow
[Am] Take me back to [F] where the cornfields grow
(Verse 2)
[C] The city’s [G] lights, they lose their glow
[Am] When I think of [F] you, and our old bungalow
[C] I miss the [G] sound of the radio
[Am] Playing songs [F] from a world ago
(Chorus)
[G] Take me back to [C] where the cornfields grow
[Am] Where life was [F] simple, where we used to go
[G] I miss the [C] way the midwestern wind would blow
[Am] Take me back to [F] where the cornfields grow
Band’s Favorite Fan:
Nina, a midwestern girl herself, has been a Homely Decline fan from the very start. Nina says, “I listen to them and I’m instantly transported back to my hometown in Kansas. It’s like they’ve captured the nostalgia, the longing, and the struggle of leaving one’s home in pursuit of dreams in their music. Their song ‘Where the Cornfields Grow’ speaks to me on a personal level. The raw emotion in their songs strikes a chord with anyone who’s left their small town for the big city. They represent the voice of us midwestern dreamers, and that’s why they’re my favorite”.
