Grown Childhood

Backstory:

Grown Childhood formed in the vibrant music scene of Austin, Texas in 2010. The original members, high school friends Josh ‘Jax’ Baker (vocals/guitar), Emily ‘Em’ Johnson (bass/vocals), and Luke ‘Lu’ Thompson (drums), spent their early years jamming in their parents’ garages, playing cover songs of their rock heroes. After attending college separately, they reconnected in their mid-twenties, discovering they still held a shared passion for making music. They decided to pour their experiences, both collective and personal, into a new project. Thus, Grown Childhood was born. The band’s name reflects their journey from childhood friends to grown adults, with music being the constant thread that has kept them united.

Genre:

Grown Childhood is best described as Indie Rock with undertones of Folk and Punk.

Title:

“Lost in Moments”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] Wandering through life’s [C] maze,
[Em] Memories of simpler [D] days,
[G] We were just kids, [C] wild and free,
[Em] Now we’re lost in [D] moments that used to be.

(Chorus)
[G] Lost in moments, [C] lost in time,
[Em] We’re all just kids, [D] on the edge of prime,
[G] Chasing dreams, [C] with hearts aglow,
[Em] Lost in moments, [D] we used to know.

(Verse 2)
[G] Remember that old [C] treehouse,
[Em] Our fortress of secrets, [D] as quiet as a mouse,
[G] Now we fight battles, [C] of a different kind,
[Em] Lost in moments, [D] left behind.

(Chorus)
[G] Lost in moments, [C] lost in dreams,
[Em] We’re more than kids, [D] or so it seems,
[G] With hopes held high, [C] in adult’s flow,
[Em] Lost in moments, [D] from long ago.

Fan Testimonial:

The band’s favorite fan is a woman named Alice, a librarian from Austin. She’s been a diehard fan since their early gigs at tiny local venues, and she’s followed their journey every step of the way. Alice says, “Grown Childhood’s music is a soundtrack to my life. Their songs, filled with nostalgia, make me appreciate the past while embracing the present. Despite the adulthood challenges I face every day, deep down, I’m still that carefree kid. And their music often reminds me of that. It’s like they’re singing directly to my soul.” Plus, Alice always promotes the band to anyone who will listen — she’s even set up a display of their albums in her library.
