Rundown Capitalism

Backstory:
Rundown Capitalism was born in an old, dilapidated warehouse down the gritty streets of Detroit in 2014. The band consists of four members, the lead vocalist and bassist, Jonny “Strings” McCain, drummer Alex “Beatdown” Ward, lead guitarist Vince “Riffmaster” Hughes, and keyboardist Sofia “Harmony” Diaz. They came together with a shared love for music and a mutual distaste for the economic disparities they saw in their city. Drawing inspiration from their surroundings, they began to pen lyrics that were both politically charged and socially aware, creating a unique brand of protest music that resonated with people from all walks of life.

Genre:
Alternative Rock / Punk

Title:
“Broken Promise Land”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
[G] The cityscape’s a [D] graveyard, [Em] tombstones of steel and [C] glass,
[G] The rich man’s paradise, [D] where dreams of the poor don’t [Em] last. [C]
[G] We’re living on the [D] fringes, [Em] caught in a twisted [C] dance,
[G] In this broken promise [D] land, [Em] we never stood a [C] chance.

(Chorus)
[G] Oh, rundown [D] capitalism, [Em] you’re a thief in the [C] night,
[G] Stealing our [D] dreams, our [Em] hopes, our [C] light.
[G] In the name of [D] progress, [Em] you wage your [C] silent war,
[G] But we won’t be [D] your victims, [Em] not anymore. [C]

(Verse 2)
[G] Factories stand [D] empty, [Em] echo of a bygone [C] age,
[G] Workers replaced by [D] machines, [Em] trapped in a golden [C] cage.
[G] Wealth flows like [D] rivers, [Em] but only to the [C] sea,
[G] In this broken promise [D] land, [Em] there’s no such thing as [C] free.

(Chorus)
