Backstory:
Formed in the heart of Portland, Oregon in 2013, Plaintive Fly started as a creative outlet for four local artists, each with their own unique musical background. Lead vocalist and pianist, Sam Drake, met guitarist Jack Stewart at a local indie music festival, and the two quickly found a shared love for emotionally charged power-pop. After recruiting bassist Lisa Cohen and drummer Mike Reynolds, the four started jamming in Sam’s garage, and Plaintive Fly was born. After two years of late-night practices and small gig performances, they released their debut album, titled “Journey to Solitude”, which quickly gained traction in the underground music scene. The band’s heartfelt lyrics and infectious melodies have been captivating audiences ever since.

Title:
“Paper Cranes”
Full Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
G D Em C
Feathered dreams in my hand, we were chasing sunsets,
G D Em C
Woven tales, fragile hopes, like these paper cranes.
[Verse 2]
G D Em C
Underneath the starry night, we promised forever,
G D Em C
But now, all I have are these paper cranes.
[Chorus]
G D Em C
Paper cranes in the wind, flying to where we began,
G D Em C
Carrying dreams that were penned, in a love that couldn’t stand.
[Verse 3]
G D Em C
Empty rooms, silent halls, echo your laughter,
G D Em C
All that’s left of you here, are these paper cranes.
[Chorus]
G D Em C
Paper cranes in the wind, tell a tale of what has been,
G D Em C
In each fold, in each bend, lives a love that couldn’t mend.

Testimonial:
“From the first time I listened to Plaintive Fly, I was instantly hooked. Their music has a raw, emotional quality that connects with me on a personal level. As someone who’s gone through a lot of ups and downs in life, their songs provide a form of solace and understanding that I’ve rarely found in music. The song “Paper Cranes” in particular, speaks volumes about love and loss and it’s a song I often turn to whenever I’m feeling down. I’ve seen them live a total of seven times, and each time, they’ve managed to exceed my expectations. I’m proud to call myself a fan of Plaintive Fly and I can’t wait to see where their musical journey takes them next.”
