The story

Formed in the industrial heart of Pittsburgh in 2018, Delicious Cancer began as a cathartic outlet for its founding members, siblings Alex and Jamie Vance. Both survivors of personal tragedy and small-town malaise, the duo sought to transform pain and irony into raw, electrifying sound. Their initial shows were held in abandoned warehouses and torn-down steel mills, drawing in crowds who resonated with the band's relentless energy and refusal to sugarcoat life's darkest moments.

The lineup solidified when bassist Rowan Lee and drummer Maya Ortiz joined after a particularly chaotic open mic, bringing with them a grounding groove and punk sensibility. Delicious Cancer quickly developed a reputation for their confrontational lyrics, genre-bending sound, and unorthodox stage presence, cementing their place in the region's alternative scene. Their music is a rallying cry for those who find beauty in the broken and humor in the hopeless.

Post-punk with noise rock and industrial undertones.

Glitter in the Ashtray

Verse (Am – F – Dm – E
Am
You said light another cigarette
F
While the rain claws at the doors
Dm
We’re just shadows on the window
E
Counting cracks across the floor
Am
You drew halos in the ashes
F
And I laughed until I cried
Dm
We are poison in the water
E
But at least we’re still alive

Chorus (C – G – Am – F
C
There’s glitter in the ashtray
G
And gold dust in the scars
Am
We’re dancing with the cancer
F
Igniting broken hearts
C
No future in the embers
G
But we’re burning just the same
Am
So strike a match and join us
F
Remember our charred names

Verse (Repeat: Am – F – Dm – E
Am
Every bruise is neon warning
F
Every tear a badge we wear
Dm
We’re the punchline of the heartbreak
E
Laughing toxic in the air

(Repeat Chorus)

“I found Delicious Cancer when I was at my lowest—stuck in a dead-end job, feeling invisible. Their music made me feel seen, like someone finally understood the chaos in my head. I’ve been to every Pittsburgh show, and Alex even remembered my name. Their lyrics don’t sugarcoat anything; they just hit you with the truth, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. Delicious Cancer saved my life, and every song reminds me to keep dancing, even if it’s through the ashes.”
