The story

Inconsequential Note formed in 2017 in the overlooked suburbs of Dayton, Ohio, when four college friends realized their shared love for obscure 90s indie rock and the sound of old answering machines. What started as weekly jam sessions in a parent’s dusty garage quickly evolved into a quirky, emotional project, focused on the moments and thoughts people usually forget about. The band’s name, “Inconsequential Note,” came from a crumpled Post-it they once found on the floor with a coffee stain and a reminder to “buy milk,” which inspired their first song.

Drawing inspiration from both the ordinary and the overlooked, Inconsequential Note crafts music that blends vulnerability with irony, layering honest lyrics over lo-fi guitar textures. Their shows are known for intimate settings and unconventional covers, including a legendary performance involving a toy xylophone and a borrowed garden gnome. Since their self-produced debut EP, they've built a loyal following among those who find beauty in the background noise of life.

Lo-fi indie rock with a splash of bedroom pop.

Forgotten on the Fridge

Verse (C - G - Am - F)
(C) Left a note on the (G) fridge,
(Am) Words wrapped in tape, (F) barely a smidge
(C) Of meaning, but (G) maybe it’s more
(Am) Than scrambled reminders (F) scattered on the floor

(C) You walked by and (G) didn’t even see
(Am) All the things that (F) you mean to me
(C) Post-it yellow and (G) curling at the ends,
(Am) Just another message (F) nobody sends

Chorus (F - G - C - Am)
(F) Maybe I’m (G) just a note you (C) meant to throw away
(F) Clinging to the (G) magnet, (C) hoping you might (Am) stay
(F) Even if the (G) ink gets (C) blurred and starts to (Am) fade
(F) I’ll be the (G) inconsequential (C) note you never (Am) made

Verse (C - G - Am - F)
(C) Grocery lists and (G) old receipts,
(Am) Memories tucked in (F) pockets of weeks
(C) I’ll wait in plain sight, (G) above the hum,
(Am) Just wishing you’d read (F) where I’m coming from

Chorus (F - G - C - Am)
(F) Maybe I’m (G) just a note you (C) meant to throw away
(F) Clinging to the (G) magnet, (C) hoping you might (Am) stay
(F) Even if the (G) ink gets (C) blurred and starts to (Am) fade
(F) I’ll be the (G) inconsequential (C) note you never (Am) made

Bridge (Am - F - G)
(Am) One day you’ll clear it all, (F) sweep the fridge clean
(G) Will you remember the spaces in between?

Chorus (F - G - C - Am)
(F) Maybe I’m (G) just a note you (C) meant to throw away
(F) Clinging to the (G) magnet, (C) hoping you might (Am) stay
(F) Even if the (G) ink gets (C) blurred and starts to (Am) fade
(F) I’ll be the (G) inconsequential (C) note you never (Am) made
